Simon van Gend is a guitarist and singer-songwriter from Cape Town, South Africa. In 2001, he released his first album, Unhinged, independently - a collection of 16 original songs performed on acoustic guitar with backing from Ben Amato on electric guitar, pennywhistle and flute, and Eric Michot on bass. His introspective lyrics and melancholic melodies found favour amongst a small but growing fanbase in Cape Town.
