Stan Hugill ( born 19 November 1906, died 13 May, 1992 ) was a sailor, painter, author and folksinger. He is credited as the "Last Shanteyman", having sailed on the last British squarerigger Garthpool in 1928 on her ill-fated final voyage. Stan spent his life as a sailor, was a POW during WWII and an instructor for Outward Bound from 1950 to 1975.
