Subnautic first appeared in San Francisco as the Neo Trio in 1995. Formed as a collaboration of several SF Bay Area's jazz musicians to explore the boundaries between the contemporary rhythms of trip-hop, jungle and drum-and-bass and the spontaneity and improvisation of jazz, the trio soon regrouped and renamed.
