Surface Wound is a New York-based power trio consisting of Sandy Smallens (bass/vox) and Tommy Vinton (drums), both originally of suburban absurdists Too Much Joy, and Steve Hamilton (guitarist/vox), who replaced initial guitarist/singer Skip (ex-Wynona Riders).
