Formed in 2010 shortly before packing up and leaving their hometown of Montreal, The Backhomes' Aimée van Drimmelen (Key of K) and Kees Dekker (The Besnard Lakes) traveled west and settled in a cabin on a frozen lake to develop their "back porch" psychedelic sound.
