The Beaten Sea, from Dallas, Texas, personifies the new Texas folk that has largely come out of North Texas. Evocative of tumbleweeds, dusty boots and hardscrabble immigrants, their music steals beautifully from folk and Appalachia but with hooky melodies to rival any radio pop.
