The Brotherhood of Lizards were the product of Martin Newell, former leader of The Cleaners from Venus, and Nel, former bassist for the Cleaners. The duo released one home-made cassette album, which lead to them being signed by Captain Sensible's Deltic records. The Duo promoted the album via a cycle tour, appearing and playing in record shops, and busking to promote their shows.
