The Echelons were a Newark, New Jersey singing group who scored with the regional Christmas hit, "A Christmas Long Ago (Jingle, Jingle), which received significant airplay on WCBS-FM upon it's release in the fall of 1987. The group then became popular on the Northern New Jersey a cappella circuit from 1989-1996 before splitting up.
