The Great North Special (1999-2003) formed at Vassar College in the late 1990s. Originally composed of Evan Haskell (drums), Adam Krug (keys, vocals), John Montavon-McKillip (bass), Hagen Kyi (guitar) and Lucas O'Neill (vocals), the group eventually added James Brown (saxophone, vocals), Terrence Harris aka Mercury (vocals) and Darvey Santner (guitar).
