The Kite Tails formed in Lawrence, Kansas in Spring of 2008 when Ian and Danny decided to play together on a whim. Ian was going to try playing bass with Jen and Danny's band Transmittens, but the project evolved into something different. Every Saturday, they would record in a loft above the Phoenix Gallery on Mass Street until Jen moved back to Cincinnati for Summer school.
