Torbjørn Sunde was born 16 feb. 1954 in Oslo Education: Cand. Philol. w/ master degrees in music and sport. Sunde has belonged to the elite of jazz-trombonists in Scandinavia for more than 25 years. Already in 1975 he toured all over Europe and recorded albums on ECM with Terje Rypal, as Rypdal's "star sideman" like Steve Lake wrote in Melody Maker ('76).
