Urban Reflektions started off as a project in the year 2003 by drummer/composer/arranger/vocalist Debashish 'Debu' Banerji in Kolkata, India. The main objective of the project was to bring about a change in the Bengali music scenario by infusing elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, acid jazz, etc. into their music. The subsequent debut album Nagar Ratri, was released by UD Series at the fall of 2005, has been one of the top selling Bangla albums in Kolkata.
