VELENA is a musical group of two Russian musicians Elena Novikova and Vera Ogareva, not really like minded but true good friends, inspired by previous mutual experience of playing together in a Russian folk-rock all-female band Iva Nova, formed in St. Petersburg in 2002. Their participance helped a lot forming the band's style and sound, as Elena played bass and Vera sang traditional songs as well as her own.
