Wendy Leung grew up with classical music in her brain and fingers, and pop in her ears and heart. Her first albums cultivated a certain darkness that was inherent in her songwriting. Raw and soul-bearing, A Place to Start (2000) and This Time (2003) showcased a lamenting girl on piano and a lamenting young woman (now with musical friends), respectively.
