WWMT (a.k.a 'The World Wide Message Tribe' and later 'The Tribe') were formed in the early nineties by Andy Hawthorne, Zac Porter and Mark Pennells and grew out of The Message a schools work project to spread the gospel in Manchester. With a number of different styles - hardcore, dance, pop, gospel, hip-hop - and multiple lineups over 12 years WWMT was one of the most successful Christian bands in the UK performing to millions and selling hundreds of thousands of albums.
