Born in Glasgow 11th August 1916. In school choir for his first experience of singing. Left school at 14, various jobs, then became an acrobat on the variety circuit. Injuries caused him to learn drumming and acting to give him scope. In Glasgow theatres for a while then BBC radio plays.
