iwokemyselfup consists of Jolene Kendzel, her guitar, and the occasional use of GarageBand. Jolene was born in California in 1984, and spent the majority of her formative years in Saskatchewan, Canada. She has been singing as long as she has been talking, and at the age of 14 she began teaching herself to play guitar. Since then she has been feeling out her musical sense of self, sometimes in collaborative efforts, but mostly on her own.
